Holyoke Medical Center Selects QPID Health for Quality Initiative
Hospital will use QPID Health technology to expedite review and improve care for behavioral health patients at risk for revolving emergency visits and readmissions

Boston – September 2, 2015 – QPID Health, which helps hospitals and medical groups achieve their quality goals with software that locates and synthesizes critical patient facts from electronic health records, today announced that Holyoke Medical Center has selected the Company’s software for timely identification of behavioral health patients at risk for revolving emergency visits and readmissions. Holyoke Medical Center will deploy QPID Health technology to support a transformative behavioral health management initiative funded by the Massachusetts Health Policy Commission’s Community Hospital Acceleration, Revitalization, and Transformation (CHART) Investment Program.

Holyoke Medical Center, a Leapfrog Group 2014 Top Hospital, is a 198-bed facility with 1,200 employees serving more than 180,000 individuals and families from the surrounding areas. Each year Holyoke Medical Center admits approximately 7,500 patients and has 45,000 visits to its Emergency Department (ED). The hospital was awarded a 3.9 million dollar grant as part of CHART, a program that aims to make Massachusetts’ community hospitals more effective and cost-efficient by providing grants for key quality improvement projects. The current phase of CHART is focused on maximizing appropriate hospital use and enhancing behavioral health care.

“Holyoke Medical Center is pleased to make this investment in supporting patients who visit our Emergency Department for behavioral health issues,” said Spiros Hatiras, President and Chief Executive Officer, Holyoke Medical Center and Valley Health Systems, Inc. “Our partnership with QPID health means our clinicians have an innovative tool to support patient treatment at HMC and referral to community based care.”

Carl Cameron, Chief Operating Officer, Holyoke Medical Center, said, “Building on our existing electronic health records system, QPID Health software will support us in providing more accurate and faster delivery of valuable insight, which saves time, reduces the potential for reporting errors, and improves patient care, which are key to achieving CHART program goals.”

QPID Health meets CHART program goals by integrating its software with the hospital’s EHR to help identify high readmission risk patients so they can be given appropriate treatment, referrals, and follow-up care.

“We are proud to provide Holyoke Medical Center with the technology necessary to enhance their ability to treat behavioral health patients,” said Mike Doyle, QPID Health President and CEO. “Preventing readmissions and cost reduction are of the highest priority for healthcare providers. We look forwarding to working with Holyoke Medical Center to help them meet the CHART program goals that ensure optimal patient outcomes and improved care.”
